DROUGHT AND FOOD INSECURITY: 3.5 million people in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are in need of humanitarian assistance due to prolonged drought affecting the region.
HURRICANE SEASON: The 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season forecast is between 1 and 4 intense hurricanes. The season begins on 1 June and will run until 30 November, 2016.
COSTA RICA: Authorities have allocated US$385,000 to assist farmers affected by fallen ash from the active Turrialba volcano.
